Happy New Year Khmerization

A call-in show or live teleconference will not help SR at all. As mentioned on too many occasion, SR must learn how to bark on the right tree then his spporters would not end up behind bars.

SR shall learn to take consensus opinions from all within the party and supporters not just a few inner circle.

To win the election, SR shall allow his individual member to stand for the province he / she is well known to the community and suitable to his / her credential. That paying contribution (who are finance able to pay more get good spot) would never work.

9:12 AM, very good advice. But in Cambodia under Hun sen, it is the defenders and the innocent people who get into trouble. The traitors got away and thrived.

Regarding the election, it is impossible for any parties other than the ruling CPP party to win the election in Cambodia because it controls the election process-voting and counting, so it can cheat to win like it has done in the last 12 years.

Regarding selecting the candidates from the local community to stand for the election, the SRP has done that since 2008 election and is doing more in the next elections. In term of financial supporters getting good spot on the ballot paper, it is natural because they pay more to get a better deal for themselves. You would not be happy if you pay a lot of money and you don't get any benefits, right?.

I wish to say that, for the CPP candidates, it is Hun Sen and Chea Sim and Heng Samrin who decided who to stand where, not the party. In term of financial supporters getting good spot, the CPP is the one that need to be criticized. Many MPs and Senators have bought their place in the Senate ticket. Just Look at tycoons like Senators Ly Yong Phat, Sieng Nam, Kong Triv, Yeay Phu's huband- in total 8 of them have bought the Senate seats from Hun Sen.

I hope you already know which party is more corrupt and more dictatorial.

You may misunderstand my point about the election. I emphasize on the candidates for the top job NOT the little one at communes.

Correct my if I am wrong, my understanding from previous election, members who were finacial able to pay the so called contribution to the party during the campaign can choose the post they want to be. To be fair, some members may not be as rich as Eng Chhay Ieng but they mya have the potential credential to manage affairs and attracts supports. For instance, Battabang and Siem Reap seat would always be hard to contest againgst CPP members (Currently held by the Sar Kheng and Seang Nam) - the strategy is may it is time for SR himself look at the native member from that provinces instead of fiancial contribution by the finacial able person who want the area.

Must say from my past experinces during 2 general elections and 2 commune elections as an observer, members fro SRP were brilliant dared to speak out if there were any irregularity during voting or counting. But the problem was they were lacking supports from the man himself in Phnom Peh.

It is time to think of strategy but involving people outside the inner cycle may be useful.

Re corruption, no one need to tell me which party is more corrupt from the other but no one cannot guaranttee that corruption will be eleminated completely. Why this is the disease in the society which I have seen since the day I am mature enough to seeing things around me (date back in the mid sixty).

Can SR or any other party guarantee that his party members (from top to the grass roots level will not taking bribe), my personal opion, I don't think this will happen.

As far as I know, the SRP has put local candidates in the general election since 2008. many current SRP MPs come from the provinces.

I believe that, with limited resources and means such as media (radio and TVs) coupled with harassment and intimidation from the ruling CPP, the SRP had done very impressively. it is true that the SRP can improve better, but like I said, with harassment, intimidation and the lack of resources, it is an uphill battle.

Regarding corruption, it is impossible to eliminate corruption, not just in Cambodia, but anywhere. However, if there is a will, there will be a way. Currently, the CPP, especially Mr. Hun Sen, has no political will to stamp out corruption because it means punishing his supporters who are the roots of his powers. To punish them or to sack them is like uprooting his power base. Hun Sen doesn't care about corruption as long as those who committed corruption are his cronies who protect his powers.

That said, I don't think the SRP can eliminate corruption either. But I am convinced that it has the political will to reduce corruption. Sam Rainsy has proved he can do it when he was Finance Minister from 1993-1994.

Harrassment and intimidating does happen but only at the grasroot level not so much for the MP.

What I would like to say is that there ample of room for improvement and for the better.

Believed the anti-corruption law has been passed by Parliament, just hopefully it will be implemented accordingly.

One thing though it would be interesting when it time for MPs decelare of their wealth.
